Year 2 Research Project
Pilot Database for Milk Molecular Composition

>_

Description

SIGNIFICANCE

AIFS is part of a multi-department team investigating the composition of milk using the many ‘omics (lipidomics, proteomics, metabolomics, etc.) analyses available through special analytical equipment at many laboratories on the UC Davis campus. Through the analysis of samples nationwide, this project will provide a database containing the first thorough analysis of molecules in milk. This database will then be connected to research-derived data related to the nutritional and health benefits of each molecule.

GOALS

This proposal aims to provide researchers and industrial users with a rich database foundation, providing the ability to understand the health effects of the hundreds of molecules in milk, with an associated understanding of their health effects via links to machine learning-derived information collected from research publications.
