A special thanks to Alexander, C.S. , Yarborough, M., and Smith, A. for this article.
Researchers with the AIFS Socioeconomics and Ethics Research Cluster have recently published findings from interviews with AIFS researchers in Precision Agriculture. The article, “Who is responsible for ‘responsible AI’?: Navigating challenges to build trust in AI agriculture and food system technology,” reveals challenges in developing AI agriculture and food system technologies and the importance of relationships of trust and negotiation between researchers and partners. The article also identifies dysfunctional patterns of technology adoption and makes recommendations for regulation and policy that can support AI researchers and partners in developing trustworthy and responsible AI.
