Step into the future of wearable technology. The ExpandAI Hackathon is a free, three day AI hackathon for university students, held at New Mexico State University (NMSU) and the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) from October 23 to 25, 2026.
Work in teams with student innovators to get hands on with AI smart glasses, build a working smart glasses application, and pitch your idea to judges. If you're looking for a university student opportunity to build real AI skills, grow your portfolio and compete for prizes, this is the one!
KEY INFORMATION
- Dates: Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25, 2026
- Locations: In person at NMSU and UC Davis, running at the same time on both campuses
- Cost: Free
- Team size: Up to 4 students per team
- Prizes: 1st place: $100 in prizes / 2nd place: $75 in prizes / 3rd place: $50 in prizes
- Food: Provided on site
WHAT TO EXPECT
Over three days, you'll explore what AI smart glasses can do, design an application that solves a real problem, and present your solution in a final pitch, much like a case competition. Judges will award prizes to the top three teams.

- Saturday, October 24, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT
- Sunday, October 25, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PT
